Street itself is boundary
OWNER: China Panda.
ELAINE: Yeah, I'd like to place an order.
OWNER: Yes, what you like?
ELAINE: This Supreme Flounder, it says first time served in America. Is that true?
OWNER: What number?
ELAINE: 47.
OWNER: Yeah, first time. What else?
ELAINE: That's it.
OWNER: Address?
ELAINE: 78 West 86th Street, apartment 3E.
OWNER: That's southside. Sorry, we don't deliver below 86th.
ELAINE: I'm not below.
OWNER: Yes you are. Street itself is boundary.
ELAINE: Your guy can't cross to my side?
OWNER: If we deliver to you, then what? 85th Street, Wall Street, Mexico, 84th Street?

Rerun wishes
I wish Northern Exposure reruns were on TV regularly (one shows up randomly on my TiVo from time to time, but not with any predictability). What show do you miss enough to long for reruns?

WatchWatch
chriscantwell: Four out of five doctors agree: Lady Gaga is the most audacious thing currently in existence. Watch this, if only for a skinned-polar-bear-as-train-of-a-gown moment. She is very strange.  I have some thoughts.

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
Watch the video Thoughts: 1. Those shoes disturb me. 2. She might be slightly completely crazy, but it’s also possible that she’s a marketing genius. Or both. 3. She must do a lot of cardio, but little/no resistance training. 4. I have never seen her entire face before.  On the one hand, she’s not particularly pretty, so maybe that’s what prompted her to cover up with...

Dennis Kucinich is my hero
No one in Congress can hold a candle to Dennis’ integrity.  He doesn’t play political games, doesn’t cave to pressure from Repubs or Dems, sell out to special interests, or any of that other crap that everyone else seems to view as the unfortunate but unavoidable reality of political office.  He says and does what he believes is in the best interest of all Americans.  Thanks,...

Dear House (of Representatives, not Dr. Greg...
You passed a health care reform bill!  It’s not as grand as I would have liked, and you made some serious compromises, but it’s a whole lot better than I expected.  So kudos to you.  Senate, it’s your turn to step up.

Exciting weather
Yesterday: dreary rain all day. Last night: booming thunder, extra-bright flashes of lightning, violent hail. This morning: rain. This afternoon: blue skies and gorgeous sunshine. Kinda fun.

Rainy day
It’s a rainy, gray day in Seattle.  Fortunately, Thursday is my day to work from home, so I am snuggled into my new favorite house booties, thigh-high socks, and PJs.  These booties are so much better than my other slippers.  They keep my feet and ankles toasty warm without letting them get sweaty.  And super cute! I’m also eating the last of the leftover stew my hubby made out...

defective underwear? sue their pants off. →
Who among us has not bought a pair of underwear that didn’t quite work out?  1. We don’t sue the underwear manufacturer.  We disappointedly relegate the offending pair to the drawer for several years until we finally throw them away.  2. We don’t walk around in the offending underwear for a week before noticing a steadily worsening injury to our nether regions.  3. If we did...

Are digital diaries making us smarter or dumber? →
Calculators have made many little tasks easier, but I think they’ve made my life harder in some ways.  I haven’t honed my mental math skills as much as I’d like, so I’m less capable when I’m not sitting in front of a computer.  I’m a fan of GTD because there are a lot of things I want to get done, and I don’t want to have to keep my many to-do lists in my...

biteofpythias: — mind mine: the birth control and mate selection debate I agree that this is only one small component in mate selection and obviously darklamb’s original post and my reblog were having some fun with the idea. But when you state that “the part about manly men vs. effeminate men is wrong” you are not correct. Much of the current public discussion of this topic...

the birth control and mate selection debate
biteofpythias: darklamb: “Contraception and mate choice in females: the pill  (oral contraceptive) suppresses ovulation and everybody knows or its been documented that women when they’re ovulating are attracted to different types of men. more masculine men, more cro-magnon-y types, hunkier, lunkier more knuckle draggy guys but when they’re not ovulating they’re attracted to basically swishy...
